Gift card settings

PurchasesMay 22, 2026·6 min read·Updated May 26, 2026

The Gift card settings tab controls how the gift card promo block looks on your public booking site. Use it to set the headline, supporting text, button label, and background image. Changes preview in real time so you can dial in the visual before saving.

Getting started

Navigate to Purchases > Gift cards and pick the Gift card settings tab.

How it works

The tab is a single form with a live preview. The preview is a card mock-up of how the gift card section looks on your booking site. Three text fields drive the words; one image control drives the background image. Everything updates the preview as you type or upload.

These settings only affect the gift card section on the booking site. The actual gift card design (the image and styling on the gift card itself) is configured per-type on the Designs panel of the gift card type editor.

Step-by-step guide

Customize the text

Each field has an info icon next to the label explaining where on the booking site that text appears. The preview on the left updates as you type.

FieldNotes
Card titleMain headline (e.g., "Give the gift of adventure"). Placeholder: "Title"
Card textSubtitle or supporting line. Placeholder: "Card text"
Button textLabel on the call-to-action button (e.g., "Buy a gift card", "Shop now"). Placeholder: "Card text"

Upload and tune the background image

Click Upload a new header image to open the image editor modal. Once you've uploaded an image, the modal's body fills with the standard image editor controls.

ControlWhat it does
UploadDrag-and-drop area or click to upload. Helper text: "Drop file here or click to upload"
DescriptionOptional alt text (textarea)
Background colorColor picker with alpha for the area behind the image
Image fitObject-fit dropdown: cover / fill / contain / scale-down / none
Image scaleSlider for zoom percentage
Drag the imageClick and drag the image inside the preview container to set its position. The X / Y offsets are stored automatically

There are no separate X-position or Y-position number inputs — positioning is done by dragging the image inside the editor's preview window. The drag is captured and saved with the image.

The preview container on the page is 300px tall by full container width. Use Image fit = cover with a wide source image (16:9 or wider) for the most reliable result; contain keeps the whole image visible but exposes the Background color around it.

Click Save inside the image editor to commit the upload, then Save at the bottom of the page to commit every text and image change.

Recommended image size

The gift card section is a wide banner-style block. A 16:9 image at 1200 × 675 px or larger gives a sharp result on retina displays. The display container is 300px tall; oversized source images are fine because Image fit controls how they crop.

For consistent results across pages, match the aspect ratio of your event-detail header images.

Good to know

  • Live preview is the source of truth. What you see on the left is what your customers see on the booking site. Tune the values until the preview looks the way you want.
  • Position the image by dragging it inside the editor. There are no X/Y input fields — the drag captures the offsets. If you need to nudge it precisely, drag and release in small steps.
  • The image editor is the same one used for events and inventory. If you've polished an event image, the workflow feels familiar.
  • These settings don't affect the gift card itself. The design on the actual delivered gift card (image, layout, styling) is configured per-type on the Designs panel inside the gift card type editor. This page is only for the booking site promo block.
  • You don't need to configure this for gift cards to work. Defaults render a basic display. This page is for polishing the visual.
  • Background color shows around the image when Image fit = contain or when the image doesn't fill the container. Pick a color that complements your brand.
  • Long titles wrap. Test your title and card text in the preview before saving; if they overflow on mobile they'll likely wrap on the booking site too.
  • Recommended image size: 1200 × 675 px (16:9) or larger. The display container is 300px tall, so any wide image at 16:9 or wider renders cleanly with Image fit = cover.

FAQ

Q: Do I need to configure this for gift cards to work?

A: No. Gift cards work out of the box with default settings. This tab is for branding the booking site display.

Q: Does this affect the gift card email or PDF?

A: No. The email and PDF use the per-type design configured on the gift card type editor Designs panel. This tab only controls the booking site section.

Q: Why doesn't my image look right?

A: Try adjusting Image scale, Image fit, and drag the image inside the editor's preview. Different combinations of fit + scale + drag position produce wildly different results. Use the live preview on the main tab to confirm.

Q: How do I move the image inside the frame?

A: Drag it. Open the image editor and grab the image; release where you want it. There are no separate X/Y input fields, so the drag is how positioning happens.

Q: What image size should I upload?

A: A 16:9 image at 1200 × 675 px or larger is a safe default. The display container is 300px tall, so wide images crop well with Image fit = cover.

Q: I changed the title, but the booking site still shows the old text. Why?

A: Your browser may be caching the page. Hard-refresh (Cmd-Shift-R on Mac, Ctrl-F5 on Windows).

Q: Can I localize the title and button text per language?

A: Localization at this level isn't currently supported. The values you set here are global for your group's booking site.

Q: Can I hide the gift card section entirely on my booking site?

A: The section automatically hides when you have no active, non-internal gift card types. Either deactivate every type or mark them all Internal only to hide the section.
